Book Review
The Disappearance of the Universe, Gary Renard
As
many of you know, I have a weakness for books,
especially all books relating to subjects that
are spiritual, new age, or even remotely metaphysical
in nature. My favourites are those that touched
me spiritually and inspired me to pursue my path,
such as The Sleeping Prophet, The Seven Story
Mountain, The Alchemist, Medicine Woman, and many,
many more.
In
February of 2005, I received a promotional e-mail
from Wayne Dyer featuring a new book entitled
The Disappearance of the Universe, by Gary
Renard. It was subtitled: Straight Talk about
Illusions, Past Lives, Religion, Sex, Politics,
and the Miracles of Forgiveness. Sounded like
a book that was right up my alley. So of course,
I ordered it.
I've
nearly finished reading the book for a second
time, and will no doubt read it again, and maybe
again after that. You see, a few weeks ago my
dad passed away, and as is often the case when
someone close dies, you turn to questions relating
to life and reality, not a big leap given the
nature of my life path.
Unexpectedly,
(and I truly had no idea of what I was getting
into when I began to read this book) The Disappearance
of the Universe (DU) answered many of my questions.
In fact, this book answers many of the questions
I have asked over the past 40 years. In reality,
DU is a brilliant introduction into the Course
in Miracles, a book I already owned, but hadn't
had the fortitude, so to speak, to undertake,
for a reading of the Course is decidedly a serious
undertaking. DU takes everything I had previously
read, been taught and believed, to a whole other
level; in fact, it takes the metaphysics of the
nature of life and reality as we perceive it to
its very core, a very revealing and at the same
time frightening proposition!
This
is truly mind-altering reading: "an extraordinary
record of 17 mind-bending conversations that took
place over nearly a decade reorienting the author's
life and giving the world an uncompromising introduction
to a spiritual teaching destined to change human
history."
If
you have ever wondered why life sucks, why does
it have to be so hard, why do we suffer, what
are the origins of the earth and humanity, why
are we here, and how to break free from all of
it and find eternal peace, this is the book for
you... but only if you dare to face the truth.
Although
the Course is designed as a "self study program"
to be pursued at one's own pace, in one's own
time, I'd love to hear from anyone who has read
DU or who reads it over the summer months. For
your convenience, I've included links to both
books. You'll probably want to get a copy of the
Course at the same time as DU, as DU makes extensive
references to it.
Happy
reading, and I wish you a wonderful summer.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Regards
