Lunar Facts
- Heart
rates after exercise were far greater at Full Moon
and to a lesser extent at the New Moon than at other
times of the month.
- There
are more mosquitoes out at the New Moon, while more
of them are dormant at the Full Moon.
- Seedlings
take twice as much water on the Full Moon as at other
times of the monthly cycle.
- Old
folk wisdom, later validated by medical research,
indicates a tendency to excessive bleeding after surgery
at the Full Moon.
- There
is a higher incidence of epilepsy and migraines at
the Full Moon.
- Marked
increase in homicides at Full and New Moons.
- Manic
depressive patients were found to experience more
manic episodes at the New and Full Moons.
- Increases
in rape, assault and drunk-and-disorderly during New

- Right
half of brain: having to do with emotions, intuition
and creativity-the lunar hemisphere. Left half of
brain: having to do with logic, reason and mathematics-the
solar hemisphere.
- Lieber
suggests that rituals of the Moon religion and meditations
at the Full Moon served as healthy outlets and as
ways of integrating that part of consciousness.
- Plant
crops that produce above the ground during the increase
of the Moon, and plant crops that produce below the
ground (biennials, perennials, bulbs, root plants)
during the decrease of the Moon.
- Start
new projects, begin new negotiations during the waxing
phase of the moon.
- Complete
projects, clean house during the waning phase of the
moon.
