Beyond
the Secret
From
the April-May 2007 Issue of Success Matters
by Pauline Edward
Unless
you've been living in a cave in Malakula, you have by
now probably seen or at least heard of the movie The
Secret. The big secret, which is really no secret at
all, is more in the marketing than in the content of
the popular film. As far as marketing is concerned,
besides sex, mystery is probably the next most effective
approach. Everyone loves a good mystery, and no one
wants to be left out of the loop. Include the word secret
in your title, and you're sure to draw attention and
maybe even make a whole pile of money in the process.
The
fact is that no one has conspired to hide the truth
from the general population. The truth has always been
there. Those who seek answers, will and always have
found them. Those who seek knowledge, will and always
have found it. The "secret laws" revealed
in The Secret, have always been available for those
seekers who asked the right questions and can be found
in various works, including the freely available book
written a century ago by Wallace D. Wattles called The
Science of Getting Rich, a work which influenced
The Secret.* (See below for download link.)
One
thing that is not mentioned in The Secret, is the time
factor. If you apply everything that is talked about,
if you focus on your goals and find your passion, how
long will it be before you obtain what your heart desires?
If you are familiar with the cycles of astrology and
numerology, you will know that there is a right time
and right season for everything. So that no matter how
much you desire something, no matter how much you focus
on your goal, sometimes it's just not the right time.
Understanding your cycles will alleviate much of the
stress as well as reduce most of the disillusionment
or discouragement you may experience when things don't
happen exactly in the timing that you hope that they
will.
One
other thing of note is that it is very difficult if
not impossible to successfully attract something into
your life that is fundamentally not a part of your life's
journey. In other words, you cannot be who you are not;
you cannot do what you are not meant or designed to
do. This does not mean that you cannot grow, or attract
happier and more favorable circumstances into your life.
It means that you cannot change who you are. But you
certainly can change your experience.
Also,
you might consider the old expression "Be careful
of what you wish for." If you are wishing for something
that is really not for you, something that is fundamentally
not in accordance with your nature, you are not likely
to attract it into your life, no matter how hard you
wish for it. And if you were to attract something inappropriate,
it could lead you in a direction that would actually
slow down your progress and personal development.
If
you are focusing on attracting something that is in
harmony with who you are, you are more likely to successfully
attract it into your life. This may seem like an obvious
statement, but there are surprisingly large numbers
of people out there pursuing goals that have no bearing
on their life journey. Their life seems like a constant
uphill struggle. And they wonder why. Being in line
with your personal life journey, allows things to happen
more easily and you naturally experience more happiness
and abundance.
If
you haven't had an update in a while, or if you've never
had your astrology and numerology charts done, perhaps
now would be a good time. See the Services
page for additional information, or e-mail
now for an appointment.
Keep
in mind that if you have extended health insurance coverage
for naturopathy, consultation fees may be eligible for
reimbursement.
