How is ACIM Different from other Spiritualities.

One of the principle issues faced by many of my clients is the struggle for spiritual fulfillment. This quest has many names, including the quest for authentic self, self knowledge, self love, inner peace, consciousness, awakening, enlightenment, spirit, etc. Today we have thousands of resources at our disposal: books, CD's, DVD's, workshops, blogs, chat sites, spiritual coaches, television shows... Unlike many years ago, this journey need not be a lonely one; we are blessed with a vast treasure chest of tools and resources. See a list of Self Help Books on my Favourite Books Page.

For those of you who have pursued the spiritual path for some time and are seeking answers to serious questions such as Why are we here? What is this world in which we live? Is true peace possible? For those who would, once and for all, like an answer that has an absolute sense to it and will not lead to a series of unanswered and unanswerable questions, A Course in Miracles (ACIM) may be for you. (See my favourite sources of A Course in Miracles learning tools below.)

As was the case with thousands of other seekers over the past 25 years, I was aware of ACIM, but found its metaphysics very difficult to grasp. DU (The Disappearance of the Universe, by Gary Renard) was the perfect introduction to this teaching. Read my review of The Disappearance of the Universe. Mind blowing! I'm reading it for the seventh time, and am still learning from it!

Since embarking on my journey with the Course, I have not found it necessary to continue scouring the spiritual buffet line in search of truth. A Course in Miracles pretty much lays it all out for us. Although the Course challenged everything I had previously been taught and everything I believed, I found it to be refreshingly absolute and logical. For that, and many other reasons, I decided to focus my spiritual quest on the study and integration of the Course's teachings in my life, relieving me of the tremendous burden and disappointment of seeking and not finding answers.

If you should happen to embark on this same journey and feel the need to share with others, please feel free to contact me. We are small group of students who get together twice a month, the Montreal West Island ACIM Study Group. We listen to lectures, watch DVD's and discuss the Course. See Calendar for schedule of our ACIM study group meetings.

Following is a list of A Course in Miracles resources.

My favourite learning tools:

  • Foundation for A Course in Miracles, the website for teaching the Course, founded by Ken Wapnick www.facim.org. Here you will find material authored by Ken Wapnick, in my opinion, the best teacher of the Course. You cannot go wrong with any of these tools. I have listened to hundreds of hours of his lectures, and continue to enjoy them, my favourites include the Classes on the Text of A Course in Miracles (I have the complete set! Couldn't have gotten through the text without them.), Special Relationships, Living in the World, Prison or Classroom, The Lifting of the Veil, Climbing the Ladder Home and more!
  • Gary Renard Of course, there is Gary website, which you may want to consult for his speaking engagements and info on upcoming publications, www.garyrenard.com.
  • Listen to Gary Renard's Podcasts Forgiveness.tv
